The deal would add a 12,000-tonne-a-year polyethylene recycling plant in Gniew and help lift Aliplast’s recycling capacity to more than 210,000 tonnes annually.
Aliplast, part of Gruppo Hera, said its Polish subsidiary Aliplast Polska signed a binding agreement to acquire 70% of Kronos Polymer Polska, a new company to be created through the demerger of Kronos Polymer, a Polish operator in polyethylene recycling and processing. The transaction would bring in a recently built industrial site in Gniew, Pomerania, with a full polyethylene sorting, grinding and washing line and installed production capacity of 12,000 tonnes a year. The company said the move would let it expand further in the local market by carrying out recycling and regeneration directly in Poland, improving flows and logistics. Combined with other Italian projects under way in Modena and Borgolavezzaro, Novara, Aliplast said the deal would strengthen industrial synergies across the group and double its recycling flexibility, taking total capacity to more than 210,000 tonnes a year. It said the expansion comes as PPWR (EU packaging waste rules) reshapes packaging design, production and waste management across Europe, increasing the need for structural changes throughout the supply chain. Completion remains subject to customary conditions, including completion of the demerger and the transfer of environmental permits, with closing expected by the end of 2026.
