Memory and storage-related stocks sold off sharply across Japan and the United States on July 17, led by Kioxia and SanDisk, before some U.S. pre-market moves later moderated. In Japan, Kioxia was reported down 10% in early trading and later down 15.55% after hitting limit down intraday, with reports saying its market capitalization had fallen to about half its June peak. In U.S. regular trading, Odaily cited MSX.COM data showing Micron Technology down 5.48%, Western Digital down 8.03%, Seagate Technology down 8.02%, SanDisk down 9.70%, Kioxia ADR down 11.28% and SK Hynix down 8.46% at publication time, while separate after-hours data cited by BlockBeats showed SanDisk and Western Digital each down more than 4% and Micron down nearly 4%. Later on July 17, BIT market data showed some recovery in U.S. pre-market trading, with SK Hynix ADR up 3.61%, SanDisk up 0.70% and Micron up 0.07%, while Nvidia remained down 2.49% and other chip-related names stayed lower.
