Summary

Binance is running an $800,000 XRP airdrop campaign for eligible RLUSD holders, with weekly distributions every Friday through Aug. 14, but the program is tightly constrained by regulatory screening, identity checks and account-activity rules. The exchange said users must hold at least 0.01 RLUSD in Binance Earn, Margin, or Futures accounts and record an average daily Margin or Futures trading volume of $500 or more across any trading pairs during the promotion period to qualify. Broker accounts can also receive rewards, with no individual cap on payouts. Eligibility is restricted by geography and compliance requirements. Binance requires full identity verification and has excluded residents of Canada, Japan, Iran, North Korea and multiple European jurisdictions. The exchange cited the European Union’s MiCA rules on unauthorized stablecoins as part of the reason most of Europe is restricted, including Germany, France, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus and other countries in the European Economic Area. Binance has also built in technical safeguards aimed at preventing users from inflating balances or trading activity to maximize rewards. The exchange uses random hourly account snapshots and calculates daily rewards based on the lowest recorded balance. If a balance falls to zero at any point during the day, no rewards accrue for that day. In Margin accounts, RLUSD created by borrowing USDT, USDC, U, USD1 or FDUSD is subject to a 60% haircut after liabilities are calculated, while directly borrowed RLUSD is excluded from the reward calculation. The campaign centers on Ripple USD, Ripple’s dollar-backed stablecoin, at a time when RLUSD has given back some earlier gains. Its market capitalization stood at about $1.51 billion at the time of writing after falling more than 10% in recent weeks, while 24-hour trading volume was down roughly 6%. In June, RLUSD’s market capitalization rose above $1.81 billion after 24/7 settlement on the XRP Ledger with Mastercard was rolled out, before easing amid delays around U.S. crypto legislation and reduced expectations for the CLARITY Act. The incentive program comes as Ripple broadens RLUSD use beyond standard stablecoin transfers. Ripple recently joined the x402 Foundation as a Premier Member to support an open payment standard for AI agents, saying developers can use the XRP Ledger and x402 protocol to build AI-powered applications that settle transactions with XRP and RLUSD.
