MNRS is expected to be renamed the Grayscale AI Compute ETF around Sept. 15, 2026, as it swaps its bitcoin miners benchmark for an AI and high-performance computing index.
Grayscale is overhauling its Grayscale Bitcoin Miners ETF, ticker MNRS, by moving it away from bitcoin mining stocks and toward companies tied to artificial intelligence infrastructure and high-performance computing. The fund is expected to be renamed the Grayscale AI Compute ETF on or around Sept. 15, 2026, and its benchmark will switch from the Indxx Bitcoin Miners Index to the Indxx High Performance Computing Index. MNRS launched in January 2025 with holdings including Marathon Digital, Riot Platforms and Core Scientific, but the new mandate points the portfolio toward businesses involved in data centers, computing hardware and other technologies supporting AI development. The shift underscores how investor demand has moved from crypto-mining exposure toward AI-linked infrastructure, while also highlighting the overlap between the two industries as both rely on power-intensive facilities and specialized hardware.
