A New York court set a Sept. 8 hearing to consider Bitcoin Policy Institute’s bid to intervene as a defendant and Digital Chamber’s request to appear as amicus curiae in the 3.8 million BTC ownership dispute.
Bitcoin Policy Institute said it moved to join as a defendant in a New York Supreme Court case in which an anonymous plaintiff, "Noah Doe," is seeking confirmation of ownership over 3.8 million BTC under lost-property law. A later update said the court scheduled a Sept. 8 hearing at 14:30 to consider Bitcoin Policy Institute’s intervention request and Digital Chamber’s bid to participate as amicus curiae. The case concerns dormant Bitcoin holdings, including coins attributed to Satoshi Nakamoto, and Bitcoin Policy Institute said the lawsuit could also affect its own long-held BTC.
