U.S. trade commission opens Section 337 probe into DRAM devices and downstream products
USITC investigation 337-TA-1511 covers alleged infringement of two U.S. patents by Samsung Electronics, two U.S. Samsung units and Google, with possible import restrictions and domestic cease and desist relief under review.
The U.S. International Trade Commission has opened Section 337 investigation 337-TA-1511 into certain dynamic random access memory, or DRAM, devices and related downstream products and components over alleged infringement of U.S. Patent Nos. 12,646,537 and 12,650,937. The case covers products exported to, imported into, and sold in the United States, and names South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., Samsung Electronics America, Inc., Samsung Semiconductor, Inc., and Google LLC. The commission said it will set a target completion date within 45 days after institution. The USITC is considering a limited exclusion order and a cease and desist order. In Section 337 matters, any remedy ordered by the USITC takes effect upon issuance unless vetoed by the U.S. Trade Representative for policy reasons.
