Andreessen Horowitz, also known as a16z, has invested in Runta, an AI agent security startup developing “AI agent guardianship” infrastructure for enterprises. The Information reported that the investment amount was not disclosed. Runta aims to help companies manage AI agents’ permissions, security risks and behavioral boundaries, with tools designed to reduce the chances of data leaks, operational mistakes or financial losses as autonomous software is given broader access to business systems. Founder Guanlan Dai previously worked at Cloudflare and was a founding engineer at API startup Kong. Dai has described AI agents as resembling children in their need for boundaries, supervision and permission controls, while industry observers expect demand for AI agent security and governance infrastructure to grow as these systems become more autonomous and capable of handling complex tasks.
