Summary

E*TRADE has completed its rollout of spot cryptocurrency trading, giving eligible clients the ability to buy, sell and hold Bitcoin, Ether and Solana directly through its brokerage platform for a 0.50% transaction fee. Zerohash provides the underlying crypto infrastructure and holds the assets in linked customer accounts, while Morgan Stanley said crypto transfers into and out of accounts are expected later this year. The launch follows a pilot introduced in May and expands Morgan Stanley’s broader digital-asset push, which also includes planned Ethereum and Solana exchange-traded funds, a spot Bitcoin ETF, a referral arrangement with Galaxy Digital for crypto-backed investment exposure, and an application for a national trust bank charter. Later this year, Morgan Stanley plans to move the service from Zerohash to Morgan Stanley Digital Trust, its proposed national trust bank, as it builds out trading, custody and related crypto services across the group.
