The deal adds an ophthalmology laser business to IPG’s urology franchise and could expand its Advanced Solutions addressable market by about $1 billion, with closing expected in Q4 2026.
IPG Photonics said it has entered into a binding offer to buy Lumibird Medical for €300 million in cash on a cash-free, debt-free basis, with up to €50 million in additional cash earnout tied to 2026 and 2027 performance metrics. The company said the acquisition would broaden its Advanced Solutions portfolio in medical markets, combining Lumibird Medical’s ophthalmology business with IPG’s urology operations to form a larger medical laser platform. IPG expects the transaction to be accretive to gross margin, EBITDA and adjusted EPS, while adding about $1 billion to the addressable market for Advanced Solutions. Lumibird Medical, based in France, makes diagnostic and therapeutic systems for ophthalmology and reported 2025 revenue of €112.2 million and EBITDA of €24.1 million, with a 21.5% EBITDA margin. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026 after the works council process under French law, a definitive purchase agreement and customary closing conditions.
