The Korea event expands work on Pay.sh and x402, challenging developers to build AI agents that can autonomously buy cloud services with USDC micropayments on Solana.
Solana Foundation and Google Cloud are co-hosting an AI agentic commerce hackathon in Korea as they deepen work on autonomous software payments. The event, themed “Build the Future of Agentic Commerce,” asks developers to build AI agents that can discover, authenticate and pay for cloud API services using only a Solana wallet and the x402 protocol, without human intervention in the payment step. The effort builds on Pay.sh, an open-source API proxy launched in June by Solana Foundation and Google Cloud, which routes access to services including Gemini, BigQuery and Cloud Run and enables pay-per-use USDC micropayments settled on Solana. The hackathon also comes as x402 gains more formal industry backing after the Linux Foundation launched the x402 Foundation on July 14 with Solana Foundation among its founding premier members. Solana says the x402 network has processed more than 37 million transactions and over $10 million in volume, with about 70% of monthly x402 volume settling on Solana. CryptoBriefing reported the Korea event carries a $135,000 prize pool, with awards of up to $20,000 per track, though Solana Foundation’s initial announcement did not specify event dates.
