The share of index constituents trading above a key long-term trend gauge reached its highest level since 2024, signaling a broadening equity market advance, Barchart said.
About 70% of S&P 500 stocks traded above their 200-day moving average on Friday, marking the strongest market breadth reading since 2024, according to Barchart. The 200-day moving average is a widely watched long-term trend indicator, and a rising share of stocks above that level is often read as a sign that gains are spreading beyond a narrow group of large companies.
