CoinGecko’s ranking shows XRP endured bull and bear markets, exchange delistings and the SEC’s lawsuit against Ripple while remaining among crypto’s 10 largest assets.
XRP has set a longevity record in crypto market-cap rankings, standing as the only altcoin besides Bitcoin to remain in the top 10 every year since 2014, according to a CoinGecko study that excluded 2013 because of sparse data. The token ranked eighth in 2014 with a market cap of nearly $32 million, or about 0.3% of the top 10’s combined value, rose to second in 2015, and held third place across 2017, 2018 and 2019 before stablecoins and Layer-1 tokens reshaped the leaderboard. The milestone underscores unusual staying power in a sector where earlier top-10 names including Litecoin, Dash, NEM, Namecoin and Peercoin eventually lost their positions. XRP also stayed in the top tier during one of its most difficult periods from 2020 to 2023, when the US Securities and Exchange Commission sued Ripple and several major exchanges delisted the token. By 2025, XRP had reached fourth place with a market cap of nearly $127.9 billion, roughly 4.3% of the top 10 total, and it was trading near $1.10 after briefly falling to $1.05 amid recent volatility.
