xAI has made Grok available as a free add-in for Word, PowerPoint and Excel, putting the AI assistant directly inside Microsoft’s productivity suite and setting up a direct challenge to Microsoft Copilot, which costs about $30 per month. The rollout was staggered, with PowerPoint on June 16, Word on June 18 and Excel on June 22, and the add-ins are free for Microsoft 365 users. The integration also includes web research and connections to email, SharePoint and Google Drive. Elon Musk had teased the plugins in April after engineering demos during development.
