The panel, titled "Bridging Finance and Web3—Next-Generation Payment Infrastructure Built Jointly by Financial Institutions," was moderated by Keita Sekiguchi. WebX2026 also hosted a separate panel on July 14, 2026 titled "Government Bonds × Blockchain: How On-Chain Transformation Changes Japan’s Financial Infrastructure," where speakers from JPX Research Institute, Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking, SMBC Nikko Securities, Ava Labs, and Digital Asset discussed how already-issued Japanese government bonds could be brought on-chain. Another session, titled "The First Year of Tokenized Deposits—Japan’s Challenge Where Finance, Industry and Policy Intersect," examined the significance of putting deposits on-chain and the implementation challenges, with speakers from the Ministry of Finance, a regional bank-affiliated fintech, and a digital currency operator. Naohiko Ueno served as moderator. A further session, "Stablecoins, Toward Implementation," examined the current state of stablecoin adoption and shifts in payment infrastructure across the Asia-Pacific retail payments market, with speakers from Stripe-owned Privy, Visa and NERO Chain.
