The U.S. rollout lets eligible customers fund stock and ETF purchases with supported crypto in one app flow, with $5 fractional investing and extended weekday trading planned.
Uphold has launched a U.S. equities service offering access to more than 4,000 U.S. stocks and ETFs inside its platform, extending its multi-asset model beyond crypto and other non-securities products. Eligible U.S. customers can use supported cryptocurrencies to fund equity purchases within a single app flow, though the transaction is executed by first converting the crypto into U.S. dollars and then using the proceeds to buy the security through Uphold Securities. The service includes fractional investing starting at $5 where supported. Uphold said stock and ETF purchases carry no trading commission, though standard fees still apply when customers convert cryptocurrency into dollars and regulatory fees apply when securities are sold. Nancy Beaton, president of Uphold U.S., said the product is aimed at giving customers one place to manage crypto and traditional investments. The launch uses a conventional brokerage structure rather than tokenized equities. Uphold HQ converts crypto into dollars, Uphold Securities executes the stock or ETF order, and Apex Clearing Corporation carries and clears the brokerage accounts. Uphold Securities is registered with the SEC as a broker-dealer and is a FINRA and SIPC member. The company plans to expand the service to 24-hour trading on weekdays as crypto platforms increasingly compete across traditional financial markets.
