Mandela Digital secures $5 million from Datavault AI, launches website

The funding and technology partnership will back development of the Mandela Dollar, a 1:1 USD-backed stablecoin aimed at remittances, digital payments and broader financial access across the Global South.

Summary

Mandela Digital said Datavault AI Inc. has committed and started deploying a $5 million investment to support development of the Mandela Dollar, or MUSD, a 1:1 USD-backed stablecoin. The company also launched its official website, www.mandela.digital, as the main information hub for the project. The funding is earmarked for stablecoin infrastructure, regulatory compliance, exchange integrations, liquidity and go-to-market work, while Datavault AI will serve as the primary technology partner by contributing AI platforms, blockchain tokenization expertise, SanQtum quantum-resilient encryption and real-world asset (RWA, tokenized claims on off-chain assets) frameworks for issuance, redemption, compliance and on-chain transparency. Mandela Digital also opened the Application Stage of its Early Access Programme for a symbolic 67-day period beginning on Nelson Mandela International Day 2026. The U.S.-headquartered joint venture said MUSD is still in development, is not live on any blockchain or exchange, and that it has not authorized any token sale, pre-sale, ICO (initial coin offering), IEO or similar offering.
