Samsung said at Galaxy Unpacked that Samsung Wallet will add stablecoin support as it broadens into payments, rewards and digital assets, with USDC shown in a mockup and launch details still undisclosed.
Samsung Electronics said it plans to add stablecoin support to Samsung Wallet, extending the app beyond traditional payments as it pushes to combine payments, rewards and digital assets in a single mobile wallet. At Galaxy Unpacked in London on July 22, Samsung said the feature would bring “new forms of digital value” into Samsung Wallet and showed a mockup featuring Circle’s USDC, though it did not confirm Circle as a partner, name a launch date, identify the issuer or blockchain, or say whether the service will be custodial or non-custodial. The move came alongside the launch of the Galaxy Card, Samsung’s first U.S. credit card, issued by Barclays on the Visa network with 5% cash back on Samsung purchases and 3% on Samsung Wallet transactions. Samsung’s stablecoin push builds on a longer crypto strategy that began with Knox-based storage in 2019, expanded to hardware wallet connections in 2021, and added direct crypto purchases through a 2025 Coinbase integration for 75 million U.S. Galaxy owners. The announcement arrives as the global stablecoin supply is near $310 billion under the year-old GENIUS Act.
