CXMT’s $8.6 billion Shanghai STAR Market debut is drawing investor cash from Chinese equities in the near term while potentially strengthening the memory chipmaker’s global DRAM expansion.
ChangXin Memory Technologies, also referred to as 长鑫科技, said its shares will begin trading on the Shanghai Stock Exchange’s STAR Market on July 27, 2026, after raising $8.6 billion in what was described as Asia’s largest IPO so far this year. Analysts said the listing is contributing to a near-term liquidity drain in Chinese equities as investors sell existing holdings to fund allocations, though they generally described the deal as worsening an existing tech sell-off rather than causing it outright. They also said the fundraising could accelerate CXMT’s capacity expansion and reinforce its position in the global DRAM market.
