TokenInsight and CoinGecko reported softer Q2 trading, with total exchange volume at $16.5 trillion, derivatives activity down and spot trends mixed across broader markets and top centralized exchanges.
Crypto trading activity softened in Q2 2026, though the pattern differed by dataset and market segment. TokenInsight said total exchange volume fell 8% quarter on quarter to $16.5 trillion, with spot trading rising to $4.5 trillion from $3.3 trillion while derivatives fell to $12.0 trillion from $14.6 trillion, reducing derivatives’ share to 73% from 82%. Separately, CoinGecko said spot volume on the ten largest centralized exchanges dropped 27.9% to $1.95 trillion from $2.70 trillion, while perpetual futures volume fell 10% to $12.7 trillion. Binance remained the largest venue in both reports, with TokenInsight showing its overall market share rising to 35.34% from 32.77% and CoinGecko showing a 38.7% share of Q2 spot trading among top exchanges.
