Malawi commissions 20 MW battery storage project backed by $20 million grant

The 20 MW/40 MWh Kanengo system is Malawi’s first standalone utility-scale BESS and is designed to stabilize the grid, unlock about 100 MW of renewable capacity and cut 10,000 tons of emissions a year.
