SK Group expands NVIDIA partnership with over $500 billion AI infrastructure and memory push

SK Group said it is expanding its partnership with NVIDIA through a plan valued at more than $500 billion, aimed at strengthening global AI infrastructure, advancing next-generation AI memory technologies and building out AI factory capacity in South Korea and the wider Asia-Pacific region. The companies formalized the expanded cooperation through Letters of Intent. The effort includes SK Telecom’s plan to develop a 1-gigawatt AI cloud in South Korea using NVIDIA’s DSX AI Factory and accelerated computing systems based on NVIDIA Vera Rubin. SK hynix is also set to deepen work on high-bandwidth memory, or HBM, as demand rises for computing used in large language models, agentic AI, physical AI and enterprise applications. SK Group said the DSX architecture combines computing, networking, partner technologies and software into an integrated AI factory system designed to deliver high performance while lowering computing costs and improving energy efficiency. The expansion extends existing technical cooperation between the companies and is intended to support more balanced supply of advanced memory products as AI infrastructure spending accelerates. NVIDIA CEO and founder Jensen Huang said, “Together with SK Telecom and SK hynix, we are building a new generation of AI factories that will power Korea’s next wave of growth.” SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won said the partnership would help Korea move from being a leading adopter of AI to becoming “a global hub that drives AI innovation.”
