XRPL agent payments add Mastercard Verifiable Intent as transactions top 1.4 million

Agent payments on the XRP Ledger now support Mastercard’s Verifiable Intent standard, t54.ai said, extending the compliance and risk controls around autonomous transactions on XRPL. The company said developers using its x402 Facilitator can prove who authorized a payment, the limits attached to it and the specific purchase it covers, while Trustline screens the transaction before settlement. It added that Mastercard-aligned Verifiable Intent can be attached to x402 payments so each agent request is routed through the XRPL Facilitator’s risk service. The update builds on the x402 Facilitator going live on the XRP Ledger in February 2026, when it enabled AI agents to pay for services in XRP and RLUSD without API keys or accounts. Verifiable Intent is described as a cryptographic proof (tamper-resistant authorization record) carried alongside an x402 payment that tells a risk engine who approved the payment, under what limits and for which exact transaction, following the Mastercard Agentic Payments and Verifiable Intent standard. The move comes as Mastercard pushes Agent Pay for Machines, or AP4M (machine-to-machine payment service), designed to permission, orchestrate and settle transactions at machine speed across its global payments network. Ripple joined that ecosystem in June 2026 to help validate new use cases, establish common rules and accelerate adoption. The broader XRPL agentic economy is also expanding. More than 1.4 million agentic transactions have now been settled through t54’s x402 Facilitator on XRPL. RippleX head of engineering J. Akinyele said the market resembles the early days of cloud infrastructure, when the opportunity was clear but standards and tooling were still being built. “Crossing 1M agentic transactions on the XRPL is an exciting milestone, but I believe we’re still in the early stages of what’s possible,” Akinyele said in an X post.
