Shiba Inu lead ambassador Shytoshi Kusama is approaching 74 days without posting or engaging on X, extending a social media hiatus that began on May 13 and has left the community looking to ecosystem contributors and on-chain activity for signals. Kusama has previously stepped back from X, including in late 2025 and part of 2026, and earlier said his silence was tied to building something. In January, he disclosed an independent AI project he had been working on since then. Kusama has long used X as his main channel to communicate with the Shiba Inu community, often updating his bio and location with hints and at times sharing views through live broadcasts. The latest pause has fueled speculation that he could return with fresh updates, although as of press time there was no confirmation that a major announcement was imminent. Separately, community-led token burn activity remains ongoing. Shibburn said 7.15 million SHIB were burned over the last 24 hours, lifting the daily burn rate 66%. Over seven days, 60.58 million SHIB were burned, and over 30 days the total reached 288.61 million SHIB. Robinhood was the biggest monthly burner, sending 152,792,823 SHIB to dead wallets (unspendable blockchain addresses) in 106 transactions. In total, 410,840,455,020,349 SHIB have been burned across 21,280 transactions, with a major contribution coming from Ethereum creator Vitalik Buterin's 410 trillion SHIB burn in May 2021.
