Armstrong rejected the idea that building in crypto is less worthwhile than shifting to AI, arguing the two are complementary and that crypto functions as general-purpose infrastructure.
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong pushed back on the view that working in crypto is less valuable than moving into AI, calling that a zero-sum way of thinking. In a post on X, he said crypto should be seen as general-purpose infrastructure, comparable to electricity and the internet, and argued it will support AI rather than compete with it. Armstrong added that as AI becomes more widely used, crypto could become more important because it provides underlying rails for digital systems and transactions.
