Japan’s Financial Services Agency directed readers to details on its website after the Financial Action Task Force released a report on implementation of standards for crypto assets and service providers.
The Financial Action Task Force, or FATF (global anti-money laundering watchdog), published a report on July 16, 2026, on the implementation status of its standards for crypto assets and virtual asset service providers, or VASPs (crypto trading and custody firms). Japan’s Financial Services Agency highlighted the release and said further details are available on its website. The publication points to FATF’s continuing review of how jurisdictions are applying international rules for the crypto sector, a framework that typically focuses on anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing controls for service providers handling virtual assets.
