SES said the U.S. Federal Communications Commission approved the Upper C-band Report & Order, making 160 megahertz of spectrum in the contiguous United States available for flexible-use wireless services through an auction due by July 2027, with clearing deadlines in 2030 and 2031. SES said it could receive about $5.6 billion in gross incentive payments if it clears the spectrum on time, while Eutelsat said it stands to receive $504 million, or about €443 million pre-tax, with payment expected in 2031 if it meets the same deadlines while maintaining customer service. Both companies said the order also provides reimbursement of eligible transition costs.
