The STOXX 600 rose 0.8% and the STOXX 50 gained 1.2% as a pause in U.S.-Iran strikes and Strait of Hormuz shipping talks pushed oil lower and lifted broader risk appetite.
European stocks moved higher on Monday, with the STOXX 600 up 0.8% at 649.34 by 0706 GMT and the STOXX 50 gaining 1.2%, as easing U.S.-Iran tensions and talks on safe shipping through the Strait of Hormuz reduced oil supply concerns and pushed crude sharply lower. Brent crude fell 6% to around $90 a barrel, weighing on energy shares while boosting travel and leisure stocks. Investors were also preparing for a key week of U.S. technology earnings from Microsoft, Meta Platforms, Amazon.com and Apple, while in Europe Vodafone, AstraZeneca and LVMH were among stocks in focus.
