Trump says U.S.-Iran talks have a "good chance" and mediators are pushing to revive a disputed MoU, while Iran denies requesting negotiations and energy markets remain focused on Strait of Hormuz risks.
Military, diplomatic and market developments continued around the U.S.-Iran conflict after President Donald Trump said Washington is holding talks with Tehran and that there is a "good chance" of reaching a deal, while warning strikes could resume if diplomacy fails. At the same time, regional mediators including Pakistan, Egypt and Qatar are reportedly pressing to revive a memorandum of understanding signed last month and delayed by disputes over the Strait of Hormuz, though Iranian officials deny Tehran sought negotiations and say the U.S. requested dialogue through Oman. Iran separately said Oman-mediated discussions on safe shipping through the Strait were fruitful and made some progress. In energy markets, European natural gas prices hovered around €56.7 per MWh as Trump's comments eased some immediate supply fears, but concerns persisted over Hormuz transit, Europe’s gas storage and disrupted LNG exports from Qatar.
