Steelmaker reported $10.40 billion in net sales as record steel mill shipments, stronger pricing and volumes lifted quarterly results; the company forecast higher third-quarter consolidated reported earnings.
Nucor reported second-quarter 2026 net earnings attributable to stockholders of $1.16 billion, or $5.04 per diluted share, on net sales of $10.40 billion. Excluding a non-cash, pre-tax $61 million benefit tied to a higher valuation of its investment in Helion after the fusion energy company completed a financing round, adjusted net earnings attributable to stockholders were $1.11 billion, or $4.84 per diluted share. Results improved from $743 million, or $3.23 per diluted share, in the first quarter of 2026 and $603 million, or $2.60 per diluted share, a year earlier, as the steel mills segment benefited from higher average selling prices and volumes, including a $130 million reduction in cost of products sold related to cash refunds for prior periods' raw materials procurement costs. Nucor said steel mill shipments reached a second consecutive quarterly record and forecast higher consolidated reported earnings in the third quarter of 2026.
