K-Stock Global Gateway would pair Siebert’s U.S. brokerage infrastructure with Kakao Pay Securities’ roughly 9 million South Korean stock accounts to explore tokenized Korean equities and possible T+0 settlement, pending regulatory approval in both markets.
Siebert Financial and Kakao Pay Securities said they are developing K-Stock Global Gateway, a cross-border initiative that aims to give U.S. and South Korean investors broader market access, with an initial tokenized Korean stock service targeted for the first half of 2027. The partnership would combine Siebert’s U.S. brokerage infrastructure with Kakao Pay Securities’ reach in South Korea, where it has about 9 million stock accounts. The companies said they want to explore whether tokenized South Korean equities can help overcome time-zone barriers by allowing trading on a blockchain-based system outside Seoul market hours, and whether tokenized securities could also support T+0 settlement, or same-day trade completion. Executives described tokenization as an initial use case within a broader plan that could later include additional financial products, cross-border investment opportunities, market content and investor education. Any rollout remains subject to regulatory requirements and investor protection standards in both the U.S. and South Korea.
