Samsung Electronics said Galaxy Wallet stablecoins are intended to support low-cost, real-time payments and cross-border remittances, though it has not disclosed launch timing, regions, blockchains or the final list of supported tokens.
Samsung Electronics said it plans to add stablecoins to Samsung Wallet on Galaxy smartphones as part of a push to build low-cost, real-time financial infrastructure for payments and cross-border remittances. A demonstration showed transfers and receipts using Circle's USDC, indicating at least one example of how the feature could work, but the company did not disclose which tokens will ultimately be supported, when the service will launch, which regions it will cover, or which blockchains it will use. Samsung Wallet already combines payments, digital IDs and tickets, and in the United States works with Coinbase for cryptocurrency purchases, so the move would extend the app's digital-asset capabilities. Stablecoins are cryptocurrencies designed to maintain a steady value, often by tracking the U.S. dollar.
