BitSafe opens public beta of Canton decentralization framework backed by $1 million grant

The open-sourced Decentralization Manager is designed to help institutions and developers launch token issuance, custody and other on-chain financial applications without building governance and audit infrastructure from scratch.

Summary

BitSafe has opened the public beta of Decentralization Manager, an open-sourced framework for builders creating decentralized financial applications on Canton Network, supported by a Canton Foundation Development Fund grant of more than $1 million, or 8,500,000 $CC. The company said the software is aimed at institutional users that need audit trails, distributed trust and operational resilience, while reducing the need for each team to build threshold custody, governance and audit tooling independently. Quantstamp independently audited the framework. The product includes pre-built modules for token issuance and custody and is intended to support wrapped cryptoassets, stablecoins, real-world assets, securities, multi-signature wallets, DEXs (decentralized exchanges), lending and structured products. BitSafe said CBTC, described as the first non-native asset on Canton, is the first live use case of Decentralization Manager and has processed more than 10 million transactions. Node operators supporting CBTC already receive a share of Canton fees from on-chain activity, and the company said the framework extends that model across the network. Palladium Labs is the first announced builder using Decentralization Manager for multi-party authorization in protocol operations. CBTC Attestors Nethermind, DSRV and Finoa Consensus Services have also implemented the framework. The public beta is available on the Canton Foundation’s GitHub, while BitSafe said builders can seek matched node operators for their Decentralized Party and institutions can use its Decentralization Services for custom tokenization work.
