Recursive Superintelligence has signed a multi-year $410 million cloud collaboration agreement with Amazon Web Services, deepening its bet on computing infrastructure for AI systems designed to improve themselves. The deal makes AWS the startup’s primary cloud provider and includes joint development of infrastructure tailored for recursive self-improving AI research rather than a simple cloud capacity purchase. Recursive emerged from stealth in May with a $4.65 billion valuation and has raised $650 million from investors including AMD Ventures and Nvidia. CEO and co-founder Richard Socher said the contract is likely to be the smallest computing agreement the company signs over the next few years, underscoring a strategy of channeling resources into automated research and product development. AWS said the arrangement does not include any equity investment, setting it apart from structures often used by major AI labs. Recursive says its automated AI research system has already surpassed two-year-old human leaderboard records on NanoChat, NanoGPT Speedrun and SOL-execBench, though observers say more validation is needed on reproducibility, safety and cost efficiency before those results can be treated as evidence of broadly generalizable self-improvement. Socher said the company plans to unveil a usable product around October.
