The smart contract-based system is designed to help developers curb Sybil attacks and set credential-based access rules while keeping users’ underlying identity data private.
Base Verify Onchain is live on the Base Sepolia testnet, giving developers a smart contract-based way to verify unique users and reduce duplicate participation in token claims, NFT mints, deposits and votes. The system uses a per-application identity hash tied to verified credentials rather than wallet addresses, allowing contracts to detect when the same person uses multiple wallets without revealing personal information or enabling cross-app tracking. Base said the broader Base Verify infrastructure has processed more than 200,000 verifications, and developers can also set eligibility rules based on credentials such as verified X accounts, follower thresholds or active Coinbase One memberships.
