Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security has proposed expanding the scope of electronic identification under a draft Law on Electronic Identification and Authentication to cover data, applications, digital assets and other assets. The proposal also brings products, goods, devices, databases, documents, images and videos into the framework and introduces mechanisms to suspend, restore and revoke electronic identities and identification codes. The move would widen how digital identity systems are applied across both virtual and physical items, potentially giving authorities a broader legal basis for authentication and lifecycle management of digital credentials.
