Summary

Alpen has launched Testnet III on Bitcoin Signet and says more than 21 launch partners have begun integrations as it moves closer to mainnet. Bridge operators Stakely and Chainflow are already live on the testnet, while P2P.org is expected to join soon, in what Alpen is positioning as a broad ecosystem test of its Bitcoin-native financial infrastructure. At the center of the effort is the Strata bridge, which connects Bitcoin to Alpen’s execution environment. Alpen says the bridge uses a 1-of-N trust model, meaning only one operator in the set needs to remain honest for the bridge to stay secure, a lower trust assumption than many conventional bridge designs. The company also says Testnet III includes the first publicly usable garbled circuit-based Bitcoin verifier, a cryptographic approach intended to strengthen privacy and security in verification. The public testnet first went live on August 4, 2025, and Alpen announced the Testnet III partner milestone on July 28, 2026. Alpen, founded in 2022 by MIT alumni and led by CEO Simanta Gautam, has raised about $19.1 million from investors including Ribbit Capital and Castle Island Ventures. A key commercial project on its roadmap is BTD, or Bitcoin Dollar, a BTC-backed stablecoin being developed with the Liquity team.
