Following the 2026 Kumamoto earthquake, Japan’s Kyushu Local Finance Bureau asked financial institutions in Kumamoto Prefecture to provide detailed, flexible and prompt support for affected residents, including deposit withdrawals and other financial measures. Separately, Japan’s Financial Services Agency opened the “Reiwa 8 Kumamoto Earthquake Financial Services Agency Consultation Dial” for inquiries about private financial institutions and transactions, and said it had published guidance on submission deadlines for securities reports and related documents affected by the disaster.
