The company is using part of its Bitcoin holdings and a bitcoin-backed credit line to finance Michigan AI data center development while retaining the rest of its treasury.
Hyperscale Data said it sold 100 Bitcoin and established a Bitcoin-backed credit line as part of a coordinated financing move to accelerate development of its Michigan AI data center. The company framed the actions as a treasury repurposing decision tied to capital needs rather than a market call on Bitcoin. The sale converts part of the company’s treasury directly into cash, while the credit facility allows it to borrow against remaining Bitcoin holdings without selling them. Hyperscale had previously built its treasury to more than 1,000 BTC, making the latest move a shift from accumulation toward monetizing and leveraging digital assets to support infrastructure spending. The financing step fits the company’s broader pivot from Bitcoin mining toward AI infrastructure. Hyperscale, formerly Ault Alliance before rebranding in 2024, has linked the Michigan project to an earlier master services agreement with an unnamed AI infrastructure provider covering an initial 20 megawatts over 10 years, with two optional five-year extensions.
