BGL advised ShipSigma on a majority investment from Inverness Graham, adding deal details to the parcel optimization platform’s recapitalization and growth plans.
ShipSigma has received a majority investment from Philadelphia-based private equity firm Inverness Graham, with Brown Gibbons Lang & Company serving as exclusive financial advisor to ShipSigma on the transaction. The deal terms were not disclosed. The update adds to earlier details that Balance Point Capital Advisors provided debt and equity capital to support Inverness Graham’s recapitalization of the company. Founded in 2018, ShipSigma provides parcel and supply-chain optimization services for small and medium-sized enterprises. The company says its AI-powered platform uses more than 20 billion parcel and less-than-truckload data points to analyze shipping profiles, including volumes, package dimensions, weights, destinations and service levels, in order to lower shipping costs and improve efficiency. ShipSigma also uses proprietary cost modeling and carrier expertise to optimize contracts, automate invoice audits, help customers right-size packaging, and assess the structure and location of distribution networks. The company says those changes can reduce packaging material, raise the number of parcels carried per vehicle, and shorten the distance between inventory and customers, lowering transportation spend while reducing resource consumption and miles traveled per package. Inverness Graham said the investment will support continued innovation in ShipSigma’s AI-powered technology and help the company pursue its next phase of growth. Earlier, Balance Point said it expected ShipSigma to deliver measurable customer savings in a complex parcel shipping market, while Inverness Graham Principal Ryan Geary said the deal marked the firms’ fourth executed investment together in recent years.
