Tony Roosevelt, the grandson of former President Franklin D. Roosevelt, is marketing his North Texas ranch, Rolling R Ranch, for $21.5 million. The property spans about 1,303 contiguous acres in Cooke County, roughly 75 minutes from the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, and was assembled and maintained over nearly three decades as both a recreational retreat and a working ranch. Roosevelt first acquired land there in 1999 and, together with his wife, JoAnne Roosevelt, expanded the estate over the years, spending about $12 million assembling the property through 2018, according to their daughter Liz Kelly. Hortenstine Ranch Company said the ranch includes Clear Creek frontage, dramatic elevation changes, hardwood forests, native grasslands, mature pecan groves and more than seven miles of trails, along with three primary improvements known as the Top House, Lodge and Barn. The brokerage said wildlife habitat features such as owl boxes, bluebird houses and protected sanctuary areas reflect a long-running focus on conservation, while the ranch also supports agricultural operations and hunting, fishing, hiking and horseback riding. The property sits near the historic Chisholm Trail and Butterfield Overland Mail Route and overlooks the Clear Creek and Cove Hollow area associated with Sam Bass.
