Users shared an official email saying accounts with no activity for more than six months will face an inactivity maintenance charge, prompting discussion in the crypto community.
Bitstamp told users it will begin charging a 5-euro monthly inactivity maintenance fee from Sept. 1 on accounts that have had no activity for more than six months. The change surfaced after Reddit users shared what they described as an official email from the exchange, drawing wider attention across the crypto community. Inactivity fees are typically used by financial platforms to cover the cost of maintaining dormant accounts, though they can also prompt users to trade, withdraw funds, or close unused accounts.
