Indonesia recorded a trade deficit of USD 0.45 billion in June 2026, reversing from a USD 4.11 billion surplus in the same month a year earlier and coming in smaller than expectations for a USD 0.79 billion deficit. The June reading marked the second consecutive monthly trade deficit as import growth continued to outstrip export growth. Imports rose 34.27% year-on-year, well above estimates of 25.3% and faster than May’s 22.16% increase. Exports increased 8.84%, recovering from a 5.73% drop in May, which had been the sharpest decline in six months, and beating forecasts for a 0.25% rise.
