ArcelorMittal said it is expanding its collaboration with Microsoft to speed its shift toward a data-driven, AI-enabled operating model, with Microsoft Azure becoming its primary cloud computing platform. The company said Azure will underpin modernization of core IT systems, create a single trusted data foundation, and support advanced analytics and AI deployment across global systems and business processes. ArcelorMittal said it will use Microsoft Fabric, Purview and Foundry, alongside other Azure infrastructure services, to scale digital innovation, strengthen cyber security, system reliability and resilience, and improve operational efficiency while reducing reliance on legacy IT systems. Chief Information Officer Nik Puri said the expanded relationship is intended to reshape the company’s IT operating model by embedding data and AI into the core of its IT estate. Microsoft President, Europe, Middle East and Africa Samer Abu-Ltaif said the partnership reflects a move from AI experimentation toward building business operations around AI. ArcelorMittal said the changes are designed to turn data into a strategic asset and support long-term digital transformation in the global steel industry.
