Built on its EnzeneX FCCM platform, the program offers design, technology transfer, training and operating support while aiming to cut biologics plant costs from $300 million-$400 million to $60 million-$80 million.
Enzene said it has launched NeX, an end-to-end partnership model designed to help governments, institutions and biopharma organizations build local biomanufacturing capabilities for biologics. The program is built on the company's EnzeneX fully-connected continuous manufacturing, or FCCM, platform and is positioned as a turnkey, scalable and sustainable alternative to conventional fed-batch facilities. The company said NeX combines facility design and build-out support, technology transfer and IP licensing for the EnzeneX platform, workforce development through its SparX training curriculum, and ongoing operational support through start-up and commercialization. Where needed, participating organizations may also receive access to selected products from Enzene's biosimilar portfolio for production in their own regions. CEO Himanshu Gadgil said a conventional biologics plant often costs $300 million to $400 million to build, compared with $60 million-$80 million for the same output using Enzene's platform. Enzene said the lower capital requirement comes from a compact integrated system architecture and that the model is meant to improve patient affordability and access, support regional supply chains, build domestic scientific talent and reduce long-term manufacturing costs. The company estimates facilities developed under NeX can reach validation and commercial readiness in under three years and said it is already in discussions with multiple governments and corporations worldwide.
