
The Modlany Energy Park pairs a 42.7 MW solar plant with 11 STAR T-285 storage containers, creating what CNTE said is the Czech Republic’s largest completed battery storage project.
Contemporary Nebula Technology Energy Co., Ltd. (CNTE) said it has supplied its STAR T containerized battery energy storage system for the Modlany Energy Park in northern Czech Republic, a project that combines a 42.7 MW photovoltaic power plant with a 37.95 MW/41.7 MWh battery energy storage system. The company described it as the largest completed battery storage project in the Czech Republic. The installation uses 11 CNTE STAR T-285 liquid-cooled energy storage containers, each rated at 3.45 MW/3.793 MWh, and is connected to a major high-voltage substation to provide fast-response frequency regulation and grid balancing services. CNTE said the system can charge or discharge rapidly in line with grid requirements, helping smooth swings in solar generation and electricity demand, improve renewable energy utilization, and add balancing capacity as the Czech Republic integrates more renewable power. Built on a former mining spoil site, the project also reflects the redevelopment of unused industrial land into renewable energy infrastructure. CNTE said the project marks an important milestone for both the company and large-scale energy storage development in the Czech Republic, and added that it will keep working with customers and local partners across Europe on utility-scale storage applications.
