Speaking at the opening of a policy briefing meeting attended by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and other government departments, Lee framed the government's role as identifying trends, planning for the future and laying the groundwork for innovation. He said strengthening South Korea's competitiveness is essential, and added that securing solid industrial growth potential and a strong energy security system is key to building a country that can withstand changes in the external environment. Lee also said the government should keep working to diversify export markets and supply chains.
