Second-quarter revenue rose 18% to $1.18 billion and monthly active users reached 640 million, but Pinterest's $1.19 billion to $1.21 billion third-quarter revenue forecast signaled slower growth.
Pinterest reported second-quarter revenue of $1.18 billion, up 18% from $998.2 million a year earlier and ahead of Wall Street estimates, while monthly active users rose 11% to 640 million and adjusted earnings topped forecasts. The stock fell more than 7% in after-hours trading on Tuesday after the company projected third-quarter revenue of $1.19 billion to $1.21 billion, with the midpoint roughly in line with analyst expectations and implying slower year-over-year growth of 13% to 15%, partly due to a modest foreign-exchange headwind. Pinterest posted a net loss of $47 million, or 8 cents per share, versus net income of $38.76 million, or 6 cents per share, a year earlier, as it spent more on artificial intelligence infrastructure and other operating costs.
