S&P Global's final reading still signaled a second straight month of expansion, though growth softened as new business rose at its weakest pace in 25 months and hiring slowed.
Japan's S&P Global Services PMI Business Activity Index was revised down to 51.2 in July 2026 from the 51.9 preliminary estimate, slipping from June's final 52.2 reading but remaining above the 50 mark that separates expansion from contraction. The data pointed to a second consecutive month of growth in the services sector, although momentum weakened as new business expansion cooled to a 25-month low. Employment continued to rise, but at a slower pace, in a sign that capacity pressures may be easing.
