Manufacturing output slipped as weaker food, chemical and pharmaceutical production offset gains in wood, paper and printing, while seasonally adjusted output fell 0.6% from May.
Malta's industrial production fell 1.5% from a year earlier in June 2026, reversing an upwardly revised 1.0% increase in May. Manufacturing output declined 1.4% after a 1.4% gain, as lower production of food products and chemical and pharmaceutical products outweighed a sharp rise in wood, paper products and printing. By industrial grouping, declines deepened for consumer goods and non-durable consumer goods, while durable consumer goods swung from growth to a steep contraction. Falls in capital goods and energy eased from the previous month. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production decreased 0.6% after a downwardly revised 5.0% drop in May.
