The tech company behind WeTransfer and Meetup said Spain's universities, applicant pipeline and Madrid's international appeal support plans to build its local team into the hundreds over the next few years.
Bending Spoons has opened an office in Madrid, expanding its European footprint with a third base after Milan and London as it steps up hiring in Spain. The company said the move was driven by Spain's strong talent pool, supported by its universities, as well as Madrid's international appeal and quality of life. Andrea Maiorana, talent data lead, said Bending Spoons has been receiving about 10,000 Spain-based applicants a month this year, with many ranking among the strongest candidates in its hiring process, and said the company hopes to grow its Madrid team into the hundreds over the next few years. The office is in the Recoletos area, within walking distance of Retiro Park and the Prado Museum. Bending Spoons said it is hiring in Madrid across software engineering, AI research, product and growth management, data and design, and is offering relocation support including travel, shipping, up to four months of temporary accommodation, and commuting costs. The company also said it will continue backing technology talent in Spain through initiatives including First Ascent Spain, a three-day retreat in Milan for top tech students and recent graduates in September, and more than €1,000,000 in scholarships for European students in 2026, including several Spanish recipients.
